Do TVs last longer if you cut them off sometimes? / myLot

Broken TV set - Do they last if you leave them on 24 hours a day?

Hi everyone, I was having a talk with a friend today well it was more like a debate, on rather or not TV sets last loner if you turn them off once and while, my friend thinks leaving the TV on all the time even when she isn't watching it wont hurt it, but I think that it might help the TV to last longer if you cut them off now and then, but what do you think, do you think a TV set will last longer if you cut it off once and while?

I've heard that leaving them on uses less electric then turning them off. I think it would probably be bad to leave it on all the time. I'd think that it would overheat and burn up.

i too think tv too need a rest. it will last more if it is kept off for sometime once in a while. the continues use can heat up the tv and later causing problem to the internal parts.
