Bear hunting - Black Bear

I was intrested in learning how to hunt. I wanted to work my way up so eventually I would have the experience to go and hunt bears with my cousin. Any experienced hunters out there that can tell me where I should start. Do I need to take any classes or get any books about packing meet if so what do you recommend? also I have been trying to figure out what type of weapon I should start out with. I was at the gun store and saw they had some bolt action rifles (which I heard it feels like you get punched when you shoot it), they had some semi-automatic rifles that were a lot more exspensive and lighter, but there is a huge difference in price anywhere from like 400.00 to 1,600.00 Any suggestions on a start weapon to hunt with and should I start with small game or just go straight to hunting deer?

I think you might need to go on a course to do this. I think these animals are very powerful and I think a lot of training would be involved with this. I do not really think we need to kill bears though. Are they pests where you live. I no we get some animals here that need controlling as they theaten other animals.

Yes it is good meat. I suppose bear might be good also. I have never heard of bear meat though where I am. Well good luck and take that course before you go out hunting. I would not like to come across a bear though they look big and frightening to me.
