The saddest song that you have EVER heard..

I'm just down in the dumps tonight, and just feel the need to sing a tear jerker... maybe it will make me feel better.. I dunno. But I can't find a good song to sing... Any "sad song" suggestions?

Depends on what genre you feel like singing. In heavy metal, I can toss two of them at you immediately: Undying - Doro Pesch - also: River Of Tears Without You We'll Burn The Sky - Scorpions Also: Still Loving You Soul / R&B There'll Be Sad Songs - Billy Ocean If you have a decent singing range, two of them I can toss your way: Love Takes Time - Mariah Carey - also Can't Let Go Ain't Too Proud To Beg - Temptations Also: (Loneliness Made Me Realize) It's You I Need (I Know) I'm Losing You I could Never Love Another (After Loving You) My Whole World Ended - David Ruffin Hard Rock Aldo Nova - Ball And Chain Can't Stop Loving You Victim Of A Broken Heart I can probably go on & on & on & on like this fuzzy pink bunny aka the Energizer bunny.

Oh - yeah ... another one I thought of: Dance With my Father (Luther Vandross)

I think out of all of the ones I can think of, Dance With My Father would be the hardest. A few artists that tried, if they made it through the entire second verse, they had trouble.

this one always got to me after my now ex-wife left me. it actually affected me for a couple of years: "There goes my old girlfriend There's a-nother diamond ring And of all those late night promises I guess they don't mean a thing So baby what's the story Did'cha a find another man Is it easy to sleep in the bed that we made When you don't look back I guess The feelings start to fade away I used to feel your fire But now it's cold inside And you're back on the street Like you didn't miss a beat yeah Tell me what it takes to let you go Tell me how the pain's supposed to go Tell me how it is that you can sleep In the night without thinkin' you lost Everything that was good in your life To the toss of the dice Tell me what it takes to let you go Yeah Girl before I met you I was F.I.N.E. fine But your love made me a prisoner Yeah my heart's been doin' time You spent me up like money A then ya hung me out to dry It was easy to keep all your lies in disguise 'Cause you had me in deep With the devil in your eyes Tell me what it takes to let you go... oooh Tell me how the pain's supposed to go Tell me how it is that you can sleep In the night without thinkin' you lost Everything that was good in your life To the toss of the dice Tell me what it takes to let you go Guitar Tell me that'chor happy that'chor on your own Yeah yeah yeah Tell me that it's better when you're all alone Tell me that your body doesn't miss my touch Tell me that my lovin' didn't mean that much Tell me you ain't dying When you're cryin' for me Tell me what it takes to let you go... oooh Tell me how the pain's supposed to go... yeah And tell me how it is that you can sleep In the night without thinkin' you lost Everything that was good in your life To the toss of the dice Tell me who's to blame for thinkin' twice... no no no no 'Cause I don't wanna burn in paradise Oooh... I don't I don't no I don't wanna burn in paradise Let it go let it go... I don't wanna burn...." Steve Tyler/Joe Perry - Aerosmith but that was the past and i don't live in the past so i'm much better now. and even though Aerosmith is one of my favoritist bands and that's a great song, i've moved on to happier tunes like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major-General%27s_Song

"How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" by Patty Loveless....I don't even really listen to country music, but this was one that really touched my heart. There are many sad songs that I could mention, but this one is the most significant to me.

I'm a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan(atic)... there was an episode toward the beginning, second season I believe, where Xander says, "I'll just go home, lie down, and listen to country music...the music of pain." Amusing but not completely untrue

i think songs make it sad deppends on what situation you are in at the moment. but i like david slater's exchange of heart. for me it is one of the saddest song there is. do you know this song? One sided love broke the seaside down And I took it rough when I hit the ground That you went your way and I went half wild But girl you'ld understand, if your heart was mine If we had an exchange of heart, Then you'ld know why I fell apart You'ld feel the pain When the memories start If we had an exchange of heart I'd never wish a lonely heart ungood, It's not your fault I chose to play the fool One day may come when you'll be in my shoes, That your heart will break and you'll feel just like I do Oh time turns the tables, and soon I'll be able, To find a new romance And if you'll remember, my love warm and tender, Too late for a second chance If we had an exchange of heart, Then you'ld know why I fell apart You'ld feel the pain When the memories start If we had an exchange of heart If we had an exchange of heart.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLzyN_fUQ0M there is also another one, though it is kind of cheesy for me.... but the lyrics of the song is sad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j_HvMFK4ZU

Someone already mentioned this, but Don't Take the Girl by Tim McGraw is one of the saddest songs I've heard. I love country music, but a lot of the songs are so sad.

I have a lot of sad songs in my collection.... "White Flag" - Dido "My Immortal" - Evanessence "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" - the Platters "Dirty Pennies" - Mischief Brew "Save You" - Something Corporate "Hear You Me" - Jimmy Eat World "Live Through This" - Hole with Kurt Cobain and pretty much EVERYTHING by the Decemberists or Her Space Holiday - The Decemberists because of Colin Meloy's amazing storytelling/songwriting and Her Space Holiday because of Marc Bianchi's heartbreaking vocals (the stories he tells are pretty sad too)
