I need to make money from my photos.

I have had enough of people complementing my work and saying how much they love it but they don't want to spend, does any one know how I can market myself in photography, not really looking to get rich but come on people just want to be able to pay my phone bill now and then or upgrade to some new equipment. I have a home studio and I think maybe this could be the problem when it comes to branding. Stock photography is quite competitive but am looking to give it ago. How can I contact certain agencies.

I make money with my photographs in various ways. One way is by selling stock photos. The best way to get into the stock industry is by getting into microstock. I recently wrote a blog entry about microstock and included links and recommendations. You can read that blog entry here: http://funonlinemoney.blogspot.com/2008/12/sell-your-photos.html Another way I make money with my photos is by entering online photo contests. The website I really like for photo contests is http://skillfights.com/signup?ref=294 What I like about that site is that it pays you for participation. So even if you don't win the contest, you still get paid just for entering! Another site I like is http://www.viewbug.com/ It is a photo sharing site that awards cash prizes to users every week. They also have regular monthly themed photo contests with generous prize money awarded to winners! You can also upload your photos to http://shareapic.net/ref.php?owner=trickiwoo and get paid every time someone views your photos! You can also get paid for viewing your own photos once per day. Sending your links to your family and friends will make you even more money. You can also publish your photographs on http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=164477 and get paid that way. I don't earn a living from all that, but I do earn enough to keep buying new cameras, new lenses, new filters, new speedlights and other equipment! Photography is expensive, so it's great to be able to afford to do it!

How about starting with your local newspaper as a freelance photographer? Just about everyone uses digital photography now. You would take a picture and email it in. For print, you can look up magazines and journals online to see what they require and submit accordingly. Another option is to self-publish a book of photos via Lulu.Com. You'd still have to market the book but it might get your foot in the door.

You can sell prints on Deviantart. It's not really worth it unless you have a Premium Print Subscription though. I think that runs about $25 a year. I have a Deviantart account with a regular subscription and I recently put two of my prints up for sale and I'm waiting to see how that goes.

I am looking for sites to sell my photos too. I found a lot of sites that offer such service but most of them are for USA/Canada people. I am from Asia so those sites are not suitable for me. I hope to find out more sites that I can sell my photos.

many people post their pictures on Flickr with a creative commons copyright. Of course this means that some may steal your work, but generally people who are looking for a specific thing may contact you for your permission to use your picture. You could try posting small resolution pictures and charge for the higher resolution copies. You'll have to be active there though to be noticed.
