Video Game Addiction?

I'm curious what everyone thinks of the topic. Is it even real/possible? Are you an Addict? How can you tell when you or someone else is addicted to gaming? And in what way would it be best to help people who are addicted? Is there any help that you can give? I think it's possible, seeing that in Japan people play for hundreds of hours without sleep and end up dying. But not even to that extent, can it still be addiction?

I don't play video games very often. I think if I didn't have 3 kids I would be easily addicted to it. My husband and I played a game together last weekend. It started out as just a little something to do saturday morning. When I would get tired of fighting the guys to get the quests done I would hand it over to my husband to play. Next thing we would know it would be a few hours later and we hadn't made lunch yet. Then it was supper. Then it was almost midnight. Sunday started out the same way. I think that is it really easy to become addicted. I don't know what you can really do to help someone that is addicted. It kind of is like being addicted to anything else, until they want to quit nothing much will help them.

Do you think an intervention from friends or family might help?

i dont really know. i accually think im a video game addict. it just depends on the content, graphics, storyline, and overall funness of the game. i once played runescape strait for almost two days and its graphics arnt very good. neither are mario bros but i still think its my favorite game of all time.

I am totally a game addict when I was a kid. I often play the game a whole day without eaing or drinking anything. My father was very angry aoubt me at that time and I often take a beating for this. But I stll can resist the temptation of game. Indulging in game has a lot of disadvantage. Sitting in front of TV for a long time is harmful to your eyesight especially. Also it will distract your attention from your study without a doubt. But you know how I quit? It's unbelievable and simple. With the growth of my age, I get to lost interest to it slowly. Sometimes I think it's weird too. How could I quit it without the help of outside force.
