Last Minute Hijinks

I am always amused by the 11th-hour hijinks of an unpopular outgoing President, like George W. Bush. It seems as though these guys think they can erase 7 years and 11 months of bad policy and poor leadership in the last month. Not only that, but they like to take credit or blame as necessary. Right after Obama was elected (restoring my faith that, yes, there is a God) gas prices began to drop. They are at almost $1.50/gallon now where I live. Obviously, Bush will want credit for this when the fact is it is more a reflection of the new direction in which our country is headed. Our Commander-In-Thief (he stole the first election, plain and simple, with the aid of a Republican-appointed majority in the Supreme Court) hasn't had to buy a tank of gas in over a decade, but his family's oil business sure got rich from our suffering. Now I read where he has approved 11th-hour legislation to take effect on the eve of his leaving office regarding the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which will prohibit forms of online gambling like poker. When this was announced the banking system went nuts, saying it was too much of a burden to enforce during the current financial crisis that Bush himself helped cause. They have bigger problems to worry about, but Bush has to satisfy his right-wing fanatics with last-minute legislation. I have listened to people defend Bush for the past eight years, but the truth will continue to come out. He will be remembered as the worst President of the last 100 years, maybe of all time. Lying about committing adultery---immoral, disappointing. Lying about a country having weapons of mass destruction to get Americans to support a war---treasonous. Thank God that Barack Obama is a man dedicated to helping our nation heal. Otherwise he would probably try to initiate criminal proceedings against the man who betrayed our trust.

Gee, this is a new thing Bush is trying to sneak in under the radar during his "lame duckness"...lol! He's also been trying to do everything possible to gut every environmental regulation there is. The latest one I heard of today is exempting poultry farmers from reporting toxic gas emissions. A few days ago it was the elimination of regulations regarding toxic chemicals in our drinking water. Nothing that went wrong was his fault. Our economic woes are due to things put in place over a decade before he took office, according to Bush; I guess that means he's blaming his dad! It was the fault of bad intelligence that we went to war yet he won't say he would NOT have gone to war without it, although Karl Rove did say just that. I'm in total agreement with you all the way here! I still also believe Bush stole the first election and I agree that Clinton's "crimes" were immoral and if he'd been my husband I won't say what I'd have done but it was between him and his wife. What Bush did, the lies he told, has killed thousands and maimed tens, if not hundreds, of thousands more. I know he's the worst President in my lifetime! Annie

Preach on, Sister. You earned a best response, and I don't care if it's the only one. You are so right about the economy issue. I always laugh when Bush blames the economy on the previous administration (who booked the best economy of the last 100 years). If that is true then think about this. I guess Rick Perry isn't responsible for the bad economy of Texas, and who sat in that chair before Perry? Another example of Bush distorting the facts to suit his administration of deceit. Well, pretty soon he'll be nothing more than some pages in a history book that kids probably won't be able to read because of his sorry efforts to improve our education system.
