How to start a free website?

Can anyone give any tips or how-to's on how to start a free website, like hosting? Im looking to add advertisements and maybe banners to get referrals so I can earn money. Thanks in advance.
Can you also tell me how I can add banners to the site? Im new to this whole thing and have no idea how to do this.

create webpage with macromedia dremweaver, you don't need to know the html code..
just get the software, install, and open program, then you know what I mean..
it's easy to use dremweaver..
find free hosting, i used byethost.com..
upload your webpage..
