I picked up this AJAX book off Amazon. I really like Java, but I also know VB.NET. I am wondering if AJAX is worth learning. Is it worth the work and time? Would you recommend it? Would something else like PHP, etc. be better to learn? What is the best thing to do use for websites? Can you get a certification in anything like AJAX? Should you?

yeah, ajax is really worth learning for... ajax is not that hard to learn since there are a couple of tutorials in the web and also there are already made framework that is really make you fast learning in ajax. We knew that AJAX is asynchronous javascript and XML so with the used of javascript frameworks you can easily learn AJAX and there are a lot of framework to be used.. Such as, jquery, yui, dojo, rico, extjs, prototype, scriptaculous and a lot more javascript framework to mention but for me i used jquery cause i loved and liked how it handles its component selector and most especially its easy to learn.. why not take a look in http://www.jquery.com or else select a javascript framework that would fit your needs.. in javascript frameworks it doesn't matter if you used java, .net or php or any other web language since its just javascript that be easily used in your web projects...
