Best place to trade your jewelry, broken or not, for cash?

I saw the ad on TV for cash4gold.com, then after doing some reading up on that place (one being from an actual former employee), I came to find out that its a scam and their pay value for your items really sucks. Can anyone recommend a reputable place to sell this type of stuff at? Please don't say ebay. While on the subject of trading jewelry for cash, is there a place where u can trade unused, brand new cosmetics/make-up for cash as well?
