how many hours does an adult need to sleep?

like a baby need 16 hours of sleep how about an adult their working,supposely they also need a long rest.

This is an discussion worthy topic, because I know some adults that sleep 12 hours every night. Well, their work schedule is that they decide when they work and how much they work, so- if they stay at home, they sometimes take a nap even during a day. So in total in comes up to 12 hours a day. But normally it would be that after a good, deep 8 hour sleep an adult person wakes up and does not feel for more sleep: simply gets up and starts his day.

hi zahirahana! well i think it really depends. they say 8 hours is enough. but in some cases, that is not true. for me, it is usualy 9 hours, but sometimes i can make do with 6 hours, provided i take a long nap i the afternoon. it really depends on the condition of one's body and how you discipline it. i don't have disciplined sleep hehe. but thankfully, i don't work in the office so i can sleep pretty much when i want. take care and God blessyou! merry christmas! :-)

For an adults we need to sleep at least 6 to 8 hrs. at night. This is the required hours of sleep if possible. But today most of the people are busy with works and night life leisure even i cannot do that I was too busy in many things. Then after I go home i sit om front of the computer until midnight. Wake up the following day early as I could be because I need to prepare the needs of my children for school. Those who are in well stage of life can be very lucky for they can rest and sleep as they can.

my sister said that we need at least 3 hours a day to survive and i've heard people on television say that people need at least 8 hours sleep every night. i need at least 8 hours a night to function or else i will be very cranky. VERY!
