My daughter has been pestering me lately for a Blackberry. One of her friends got one for her birthday. I have to admit, they look pretty cool and seem very text friendly. So I was considering getting one for each of us, but the truth is, I honestly don't know what it is that makes them so great. It's going to cost me $60 extra a month for 2 Blackberries - so tell me...what makes them so great?

Well blackberry phones are super cool devices that u can emai, chat,go on internet and basically can keep in touch. Though I love my sidekick lx blue, I want to get a blackberry phone not sure if want storm, bold or curve. I use tmobile and for unlimitrd text, data it is 29.95 a month, u talk it can go up to 60 dollars a month or more. I basically text and chat. And email so it all good. I also do mylotting here so no matter where I am I can easy access mylot, yahoo, msn cnn, weather on my fingertips.

I'd love a sidekick, they look great! I can access the web/email on my cell phone but the sites don't look the same. Does the internet look the same on a Blackberry as it does on my laptop?

in my country a blackberry handheld is like your pocket email.. gives you push email or email where ever you go. and still gives you the basic call and sms features. its kindda big too, like a pda..being used more for business or office use

I can access my email on my cell phone but it's very basic. I can access the web as well but it doesn't work very good - the sites don't look the same and most of the time I can only see the site, not actually use it.

Nothing...I have one. I wish to go back to my old phone. I gave away my Razor and it was much better than Blackberry. I don't do text messaging, those numbers are so small, my fingers are skinny and I have problem pressing the right digit... It works like PC with tiny mouse in the center...in order to disconnect you have to give a comment... too much to do....and I want just to make a phone call...

You know, I was wondering about those super tiny buttons on there. It looks like a big calculator and I was wondering what it'd be like, making a phone call on a calculator. Thanks for letting me know the Blackberry isn't "all that"!

Nothing, really... I mean it comes with few extra features other than the looks, I can't think of one reason why kids should have it... I get the idea about kids having cell phones for safety but to what end? I have blackberry pearl 8120 but I use it for my work purposes... It has 2mp camera for pictures & short clips (length depending on your memory card), voice recorder (many phones have that now), can access internet, get emails right to the phone, can link up to wireless routers (in my case even make calls over the internet

Thanks, I think you're right. It's just a look thing, or a status thing, for the kids. Thanks again for your input!

There are nothing special with blackberry, it just almost like other smart phone. One advantages from blackberry is you will receive your email in real time, and this features really important for some one how relay on emails for their businesses. For a typical person like us, I don't believe that you need a blackberry. Blackberry run on proprietary operating system which is has not much software you could add into the device. You better get your self a smart phone with qwerty keyboard, which run on Windows Mobile or Symbian OS where you could install many others application that suite you. BR
