I guess people can feel as they need to feel about President Bush. But, I don't believe it was right to throw shoes at him. It definitely was not a very mature way to handle the situation. I wonder what will happen to that man now?

not very mature? imagine your country being bombed and your family killed by other country, and then the one who caused your country suffered showed in front of you, what are you gonna do? i think for him it is just like meeting the killer of his family. shoes is less harm than a bomb i guess, isn't it?

Many many soldiers have lost their lives as well, and you don't see their family members throwing shoes at him. Their are other ways to deal with anger, then to throw shoes at the U.S. president and then be imprisoned for attacking him. I wouldn't want to be tackled by one of those securtiy people, the poor man is hurting and now he is going to face prosecutions for attempting to assault a political figure from another country.

I just saw that video.First thing came into my mind is that President Bush's Reaction, that's so fast!In in video I saw the two shoes were throwed in a high speed, and the President dodged them.Luckily the Presifent wasn't hurt. The journalist maybe express his anger, but in a improper way,I suppose.

Something is wrong when the president reacts faster than the CIA agents assigned to protect him.

Wow...what a video. The man was angry and I guess that throwing shoes in their culture is considered the worst insult you can give to a person, or at least that is what the news said tonight. I understand that some people are frustrated, but so are we and we don't throw shoes at him. I mean yeah people are angry, but you just have to take it day by day and hope that everything turns out for the best.

I think a President is a President and must be respected! I don't say all that Bush has done is good but if only for his position, I believe he has to be respected. Now, that man who threw shoes on him has his own reason and he must be really man, however, I don't tolerate any act of violence so I believe it is very improper. I admire the President for his ability to handle the situation well.

Hi Annjilena, I was going to post a discussion about this. Glad I looked to see if one was out here before I did. Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about the incident. I think it was embarrassing in a way. I'm sure not all Iraqies feel the same way as the gentleman who threw the shoes, but I think it still represents a formidable group. And I think even though Bush was the target, those who feel that way have that opinion toward American's as a whole. I think Bush reacted to it well. He kind of turned it into a positive statement about the freedom to express your views. Additionally he made light of it with his jumerous observation of the shoes being size 10. I also feel rather upset with the CIA who are assigned to protect him. This was not an automatic weapon, it wasn't even an ordinary handgun. It was a shoe for God's sake. He had time to take the shoe off and throw it while shouting his insults and then take the other shoe off and throw it. The agents who were assigned to protect the president should be fired.
