I have been reading a lot about Windows 7, have you? From what I have read it is supposed to be better than Windows Vista. So many people have complained about Vista but those who have tested Windows 7 say it is much better. Does anyone know for sure when it will come out? I have heard early next year or the following year. If the reports are true when I get a new computer maybe I would rather wait till the new operating system is out and running on new computers rather than Vista. Any thoughts?

Windows 7 is said to be released around 2010 but will not be available till 2011 or 2012 because Microsoft has not released any Windows version on time. Another thing is that Vista is not at all a bad OS. It is the best OS from Microsoft so far. If you want to buy a computer/laptop now, got for a Vista based system and I bet you won't regret. I have been using Vista from more than 1 year now. For a Windows & based system you will have to wait for at least 2 years.....

It is distressing how long it takes for them to release things. I guess that may be a result of so much information being leaking so early. I just hate the thought of buying a new computer only to have a new OS out a year later. You have the same opinions many of my friends have. Vista - love it or hate it, no in between. Thanks for your response.

You don't have to buy a new computer to get a new OS my friend.... And about releases from MS, its not a easy task to build an OS. Hundreds of programs work for years to build the operating system that we make use of.... For a company like MS, they have to always go for quality rather than punctuality because Windows OSes always have a very high expectations and if users are disappointed, many other companies too suffer loses....

And ya... one more thing.... Official Windows 7 based systems from well known brands will also be quite expensive as Windows 7 will have native support touch screens and so hardware vendors will include that in their menu as well and the cost of the system will shoot up. Systems won't be that affordable atleast for an year or two after the initial release...

lol, A friend of mine who works for microsoft and is currently involved on the next OS to replace Vista, mentioned that Vista is a complete failure. They are now working day and night to come up with the new OS by next year. Hopefully it won't be as crappy as Vista, and be better than XP.

I too, like XP, but I have had to redo mine a couple of times. I have been looking around at the prices on pc's which are coming way down and are better than mine which I have had for 6-8 years already. Since I would like to find a way to work from home I would like to eventually have a better pc. The reports I have read are saying that 7 is much improved from Vista. Too many people have problems or don't know how to work with it. My husband plays online poker with some friends who have Vista and they dont like it. Guess I'll just have to hold on as long as I can and see what happens. Thanks.

What's wrong with Vista? It reports back to HQ daily... if it can't contact Microsoft after a few weeks, it shuts down - like - WTF? What if you have your online contact out for a month?

I am on the fence about Vista. My son has it and said once he got used to it he now likes it but I have heard more stories from people I know who don't like it. Several people we know say it knocks them off frequently. My first thought was that was their ISP's problem but these people live in different states and have different providers. I would be mad if I got shut down! I wish that a new operating system like Windows 7 would come out sooner than later. Then again, Microsoft seems to have so many issues I'm concerned. I just heard this morning that anyone who uses Internet Explorer as a browser is asked to use an alternate because MS has discovered yet another problem. Sigh.

LOL! Yeah seems a lot of people don't like Vista. I heard about 7 a few months ago in the middle of all the complaints about Vista. It, from what I have read, should be better without so many problems. I want to buy a new computer but I really dont want Vista. I'm ok with XP but pretty soon we are going to be pushed into something else cause Microsoft will not provide support for XP in a couple of years.

I hope it will be better. December of 2009, boy that is a long time. Guess I will have to limp along with my old one a little longer. I've done about as much as I can with this one. I have been looking for a few months at some new or refurbished pc's. If I were able to get a new one right now, I could buy a refurbished one with about three times the power of the one I have for not even half of what I paid for this one. I just don't want to buy Vista if they are going to have a newer, better system in a short time. Thanks
