How Animals Commminicate

My cat Junior tells me he has no water in his water bowl if I have forgotten to fill the bowl. The way he does that is that he just sits in front of the computer and stares at me. He waits patiently and then I know he wants something. Sure enough I check his water bowl and it is empty, Does you animals tell you when they want something? If so what do they do and how do you know what they want?

Mine doesn't let me know when they are hungry or when their food dish is empty. It would be helpful if they did. My two older dogs, don't drink out of a water dish, for some odd reason they prefer the toliet bowl. Now they tell me when they have to go potty. My beagle will do a dog's version of a pp dance, while my mix breed will stand by the front door and look at you. The newest edition to the family, hasn't really done anything. She's only 6 wks and 5 days old, but she will whine and cry when she's gassy. That lets me know it's time to burp her. So only time will tell on how she will let me know when she has to go outside to potty.

yep time will tell, it took awhile for me to figure out why my cat sat there and starred at me so it takes a bit of detective work but once you know, it is for the same reasons all the time.

My Baby turns her empty water bowl over and scoots it around all over the kitchen until someone hears her and comes to get her water.. When she wants to go out she goes to the front door and turns around and stares at one of us until we ask her if she wants to go out, she answers by turning around facing the door ready to go as soon as you get the door open.. When she is ready to come in, she barks a couple of real shrill barks to let us know she is ready.. When we are eating she will sit up and beg, she looks like a groundhog, she can sit upright for as long as it takes for her to bum something off of our plate, and if she hasn't gotten a bite and thinks that we are going to eat everything without giving her a bite, she will take her paw and smack at our legs until we give her a bite, she gets really excited when she thinks that she isn't going to get a bite of our dinner.. My husband calls her a "people", he always says that she isn't a dog, she is a little people.. I sometimes think she is also.. I fell asleep on the sofa the other night and about 4:00 in the early morning I felt her biting on my fingers, when she got me fully awake, she jumped off the sofa and ran into the kitchen, her water bowl was overturned in the middle of the kitchen floor, I filled it up and she drank almost all of it and then ran into the bedroom and hopped onto the bed and went right to sleep, I almost never got back to sleep that morning..

My cat won't leave me alone till I figure out what he wants. He will come to me and jump on me and just continue to meow while I am asking him all kinds of questions. As soon as I ask him if he is hungry he jumps down and goes to his bowl. So I feed him then he doesn't bother me again till he wants to be petted and loved.

My cat is very vocal. He actually tells us if he wants something. He'll meow. If he wants food he'll sit by the cupboard or walk towards the cupboard. My dog understands a couple words. He'll bark. If we say pee and he needs to go pee he'll get all excited and start wagging his tail and head towards the door. He does the same thing if you say walk.

Awe thats so cute! I love animals. My Cat follows me to bed whenever I go. I say Saba(his name) and then meow at him. He then promptly follows me downstairs and into my room and onto my bed. He loves sleeping with me. I have this really soft blanket he loves to lick.

This is funny because I had a cat that would tell us when he was hungry. Every morning in fact!! He'd climb on the bed and pounce on your chest. He was cool though so he'd jump up all smooth and just lay on you. Every morning we weren't on time with that food he'd be on your chest. Wake you up in the morning though. I had another kitten that would wake the kids up for school at the sound of the alarm clock though!

I think she got used to the kids getting up at the sound of the alarm and when it went off in the morning, she anticipating them waking up to play with her. It was amazing to witness this. As soon as the alarm went off she ran into the kids room and started pulling on their sheets. Priceless!

My little dog always jumps and hits the front of my legs with her paws when she wants a dog biscuit. If she just wants to go outside she'll just sit there waiting. But when she wants the dogs biscuit she'll do all the jumping thing, take the biscuit and then go outside to eat it.

yup loved that dog. He was Dingo and austrailian shepard dog mixed. His parents herded cattle. On time at my father in laws I just had to try something with the hogs and I hollerd at him head em up and he put the all in the pen and in a corniner. From then on if he saw a hog outside the pen he would put it back in the pen my father in law wanted to keep him but we just couldnt leave him he was to much a part of us.

My budgie just flaps his wing when I enter the kitchen. He makes so much noise that he attracts my attention. Usually he is either without seeds or water. My son takes care of hi and it is not the first time that he gets neglected by him. c) ronaldinu 2009 - the more people I meet-the more I love my dog

Before I had Sherlock, I had a Chihuahua named Leno. I'd always try to keep his water bowl filled of course, but sometimes I guess I didn't pay attention to how much he drank. Then out of the blue, Leno started jumping up at the kitchen sink. He would jump and jump. The thing was that he always saw me get his water from the sink, and that was his way of telling me he needed more water.

Dear friend, My dogs just come near to the feeding plate and just lick for many times we would give some bones or chewable food. More than my dogs also get me the newspaper and if we go out they would just come lick my legs I hope they have their own gestures to show their communications.

Mine don't just stare, they're quite vocal. The cats meow loudly if they want something. When they get my attention, they'll go before me, looking back to make sure I'm following. The dogs do the same thing. They bark, as if they're protecting me. Then they try to get me to follow them wherever the "problem" is - like empty food or water bowls.

All my animals are different. When the dogs' water bowl is empty, they will 'dig' at it until I come and fill it. I used to have a Cocker Spaniel who would pick up his water bowl in his mouth and bring it to the first human he saw and drop it at their feet, then stare at them. My cat, Bean, comes into whichever room I'm in and starts 'chirping' the way cat's do sometimes. If I don't get up and go find what it is he wants, he starts meowing, after which he will start to tap me with his paw. My oldest dog barks when she wants something. Generally, we know what it is that she wants because she'll get as close to 'it' as possible and stare at it after barking to get our attention. My youngest dog just sits a few feet away and stares. This could go on for quite some time! If we don't notice her, she'll come closer and take one tiny little paw and very gently 'tap, tap, tap' on our leg or arm. It's like she's saying, "Excuse me, I don't want to be a bother, but..." I think it's so cute the way our pets communicate with us in order to get their message across.

Our cat would jump up on the footstool in the livingroom when she wanted me to scratch her back. When she heard my sister out in the kitchen she would run out there and stand in front of the fridge to let my sister knew she should open that door get out some tasty cat food. If that cat saw my Dad going outside, and she was in the mood for a walk around the neighborhood, she would scurry out with him and either run his legs or walk a little in front of him to say "come on, let's go for a stroll." What she did with my Mom was even less subtle. If my Mom was sitting on a chair in the livingroom reading a book or the newspaper, and the cat wanted to nap on her lap, up she would jump, nudge away the book or paper, and settle down for a snooze. The cat knew my Mom didn't have the heart to push her away. Soo...our cat not only communicated to us...she also trained each of us to do what she wanted each of us to do for her. :o)

Cats seem to be the best at that. Mine will move his water bowl around also, which is kind of funny but also can be annoying (think knocking water all over the kitchen floor). He is also a rather large cat, so he can effectively block your way in our little house and force you to acknowledge that he wants his bowls to be completely full or, more often, to go outside. Cats :).

well my one cat that turned diabetic any time he is low on water he gets really friendly and climbs all over me which he doesnt do normally.. my other cat xavier likes to wake us up when he thinks its time to eat.. he is half siamese so he screeches loudly till he is fed.. if he is in the room and your asleep he will slap you and put his paw in my hubbys mouth while he snores or stick his head in his mouth.. then once your up he will continue that awful screeching till you fill his bowl.. when the automatic cat box wasnt working great every time he wanted to go but the other cat had been and it not scooped he would jump up on me and stand on me with this crazy look in his eyes waiting for me to go take care of it.. my dog just stares are you till you go nuts and do everything you can think of till you figure it out
