I don't know where this started but it is also true at western wedding ceremonies where a big fuss is made of the bride and groom cutting into the wedding cake. It is one of the most popular photo poses. I suppose it is symbolic of the first domestic act carried out together by the new couple?

Well,it is a tradition we got from the western countries,I suppose. We can't easily find out the roots of the custom of cutting cakes.Anyhow it is like a starter for an occassion to begin with. And who hates to eat cakes? It is a good thing to enjoy eating cakes for all ages and it is continued for ages. You haven't added why we are blowing candles on a cake too?Even it is a bad sign to blow off a light rather than putting it on,here in India,we still follow that.It is also to be wondered.Cheers!

i think number pieces in which we cut cake means we are wishing that many problems are solved of our life.,.
