The original developer of Far cry, crytek, may have moved on to making your PC cry with crysis, this doesnt necessarily mean that Far Cry 2 wont have the same Bang the original had. Quite the contrary actually- its early build seem7 to indicate that its going to be more than just an improvement to its preecessors open world game mechanics. After three years of being in development, its clear that far cry 2 is shaping up to be another top tier game this year. This game may even put its predecessor to shame with a lot of elements that makes the world of Far cry 2 thrice as immersive as the original. And i really mean thrice. A lot of attention was given to the development of the game worl 50 square kilometers of what could be a very accurate representation of the african Savannah. And its not only in how it looks that makes it accurate but how dynamic it can be. The game will have a dynamic weather system guaranteeing that the scorching hot sun and heavy rainstorms will have a way with players. Far cry 2 also implements a day and night cycle, which isn't just for show. The time of day actually affects the behavior of the inhabitants of the gme workd. For example,an enemy outpost may have a number of patrols, look outs and guards keeping an eye out for intruders during the day but as the day breaks, players will notice that their numbes have been reduced, since some of them have gone to bed. Whats really amazing though about far cry 2 is the ability to start a forest fire. Well, not really a forest fire but players can equip a flamethrower and practically burn down any form of vegetation. It doesn't stop there, the fire whll actually spread out, climbing on trees, burning more vegetation and even igniting some explosive barrels if these happen to be nearby. Aside from its richly detailed game world, far cry 2 still stay true to its roots. There is no set path when attacking an enemy out post. Dealing with the enemies is entirely up to the player what mode of attack that player opts for. Its eve possible to pack a car with explosive and drive it straight to an enemy encampment and the detonating it for some massively explosive results. And thats just one of a slew of other possibilities players can use their advantage.

For me Far Cry 2 represents nothing more than Crysis but this time with different story and more optimized engine. Those few eye candy effects like day-night cycles, forest fires, etc. are just used for marketing. Games are becoming boring because they are always the same; algorithm looks like this--find something, kill someone, drive someone, deliver something, go here, go there and repeat it until you fall unconscious. Main reason why I don't like FC2 is because of the name; there are no relations between FC nad FC2. Why then the name Far Cry?! If there were any relations it would be OK but in this case this is purely marketing... If people were buying FC which was really good and unique FC2 will surely be bought by the fans who think FC2 has something to do with FC... Correct me if I'm wrong...
