hi all! my professor once showed "American History X" for her film showing in Philosophy. i liked the movie because it made me aware of American society's issue regarding hate crimes and discrimination. it also made me aware that even the most vile person can change for the best. however, in real life, i am saddened by the resurgence of hate crimes, racism and discrimination by some Americans against immigrants. one of the most recent ugly bouts of racism i read in the news was two Ecuadorean brothers being beaten up after some Americans shouted anti-gay (they thought the two were lovers) and anti-Hispanic slurs, and proceeded to beat them up with baseball bats. sadly, one of the two Ecuadoreans died in the hospital. i guess hate crimes and racism still exists in some of the people in that society. i wish they would change, since they should be thankful that immigrants are the ones doing the lowly jobs thay they do not want to do (maids, construction workers, waiters, etc.). racism should not exist in a civilised world. american history x taught us how ugly racism can be and that there is still hope if people would change.

You sound like you are brainwashed. How dare you stereo type an entire nation. What do you really know about America? Here in America there are many Indian doctors. It seems like doctors are not needed in India because they come here to learn and practice. So I guess being a doctor is a lowly job that Americans do not want to do. But I bet there are many people in India who need doctors. So don't talk trash unless you know what you are talking about. Where I live people do the work. It doesn't matter what color they are. Maybe you should get out of your closed perfect world in India and live a little. Then you can have an idea of how it works in other countries. But I am sure if I moved to India and didn't learn the language and expected you to speak English I wouldn't be treated very well nor accepted by everyone. Last but not least... IF it were as bad as you think there wouldn't be any immigrants because they wouldn't come here. So why don't you think about that.

hi there coolseeds. first of all, i apologise if i had offended you. i specifically stated in the post that SOME people in your country tend to think a bit racist. and if you read what i said, a news article reported that the police in that community filed it as a hate crime incident. i'm not saying that all Americans are racist. i'm just saying that sadly, there are SOME who have a racist mindset. if i may add, i have an uncle who worked in WA. in less than 6 months he moved to New Zealand because all the people there kept insulting him (he's part-Chinese) and calling him a certain racist word for Asians, even in the office. i'm still not generalizing all the people there. it was just unlucky that SOME people there make fun of non-Americans. please take note... SOME people. and one last thing, i'm not from India...=)

Owned. Now you know mazdakid why people avoid such topic because some people just don't get it. Maybe coolseeds should read your profile first before talking trash.
