The advantage of a hurricane lamp!

You can't find a single house without huriccane lamps,some years back.But now the habit is getting replaced with candles for immediate needs.But still one cannot deny the advantage of using a hurricane lamp.It is covered with a glass so that you will not accidentally touch the flame and the flame is not put off due to a strong wind.Also it can be hanged out on the ceiling so that it gives more light to the room than a candle.So,we at our home are still having one.What about you?Please share!

Where i stay we do not require any hurricane lamps as we do not face any power cuts and even if the power does go which is very rarely candles do the needful. We used to have hurricane lamps or petromax lamps as we called them in my childhood about fifty years ago but have discarded them long ago.Nowadays we get rechargeable lamps and torches which are quite adequate in an emergency situation.
