Other than a lot of shoppers, why have you had to wait in line?

Ok - other than just being in line at a store,
what has been any other reason for a long wait?
The other day, I was in line to check out, and
must have had to wait nearly 30 minutes, and still
not be waited on. The lady in front of me either
had a bunch of returns, or had purchased some things
and something didn't have a price on it, or whatever.
Finally, the lady asked if their was any way that
she could allow me to go ahead and go through while
the cashier was doing whatever it was she had to
do to get things finished up, so the rest of us
could go through as well.
I didn't realize that I was in the "exchange / refund"
lane, until I got right up to the register area.
If I had been the cashier, I would have closed off
my aisle, and that would have helped to detour
myself and the other folks behind me, to another
register where we could have gone through quicker.
I think that this and all other stores should
have a 'customer area, in the back of the store
where all of this stuff is taken care of.
And too, I'd like to see all stores have a 'cash
only' line for those of us that only have a
few things and are paying by cash.
What do you think about this, and doesn't it
frustrate you to go through things like this?

I hate things like this. In fact, when I go to the shop I make sure that I buy the stuff that I will need for a longer period of time. So I don`t have to come back tomorrow or after 2 days. I hate standing in lines. It totally plays on my nerves! Rrrrrarr...
