Snowstorm helps community connection

We got SLAMMED with a huge snowstorm yesterday. It warmed my heart as I was outside shovelling the 7 inches of snow out of my 100 foot drive to see people helping one another up and down my block. Kids out there with shovels helping at the little old couple's house (thank God the older ones weren't out there having a heart attack or something, men and women alike out there helping push people through the snow so they could move their cars for the plows to come through and not completely snow their cars in. Nowadays people are so compartmentalized in their own lives in their own homes and their own cars, they don't get together as a community. Gertting snowed in helped people connect with each other. I think it is nice, especially so close to Christmas. How about in your neighbourhood?

lol... where do you live dragon? i live in rochester, ny, and we got slammed pretty bad, too! it was the same for me, too... i live on a caul-de-sac, and i went out to shovel for my hubby so he could get in the driveway when he came home from work. there were so many others out shoveling as well, and using their snowblowers. we often help eachother out, too, and it is so nice to be able to pitch in and help. my neighbor had a radio blasting christmas music outside, so it was nice to at least be able to listen to something while working! lol i think we are going to be safe at least for today- just some light snow flurries. stay warm!

aw, that sounds awesome! I guess it will be a white Christmas this year, eh? I live in Southern Ontario. I figured that if I listed my measurements in centimeters it wouldn't mean much to any American neighbours, so I told stuff in inches. Watch out for tomorrow. It's supposed to backhand us with more of what we got yesterday. Happy shovelling neighbour.
