Who is/was the greatest ever defender in football? The beautiful game would not spawn so many brilliant attackers if the defenders did not keep improving... so name your player.....and put a pic up... cheers.

He is the greatest left-fullback ever to play the game. For over a decade he has been the pillar of Italy's legendary defence. He strikes fear into the hearts of the most dangerous forwards. He is Paolo Maldini. HEs considered one of the best defenders ever .....Eight of present players’ +10 teams featured the Italy legend, and while some picked Maldini at centre-half and others wanted him on the left, all were united in admiration for the player.
