Brazilian Fita Bracelets

I've been wearing a turquoise fita bracelet (good luck bracelet) from Brazil since around June 25th of this year, and it still has not fallen off. I've read that they generally fall off after a month or two, but some people have kept theirs for a year or more. I can see several weak spots in the threads of the bracelet, (it's basically a ribbon type of material) but it's still hanging on just fine. Have you ever worn a fita bracelet? How long did you have yours? And what color was it?
