Jesus told hs disciples to teach them and baptize them in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. If baptizm was not imortant he wouldn't have told that. It is not just a ceremony. It is a sacrament through which you will get abundant graces to continue in your christian life. God blesses you when you take it. It will help you a lot in your spiritual growth. So, it is better to get baptized than not.

I think it just depends on the religion. And in today's world of open churches, that meaning churches that accept people from different denominations, I think a lot of people would say that it doesn't matter if you get baptized or not. Mainly because you know how you feel inside and that is what matters. Now, on the other hand, if you were Catholic or Baptist, which are 2 completely different religions, they would expect you to be baptized. I hope my little thoughts on this subject have helped you out at least a little. Have a good day!
