Do you think you are good photographer?

My list is pretty much a running cliche, I'm afraid... W.Eugene Smith, who made images under fire that have qualities of light and drama that most people could not achieve in a studio; Ansel Adams, whose photography I first encountered when I was about 15~ he used a camera in a way that I had never thought about...until then I always thought of it as a mechanical device for recording places and people...never since! Peter Eastway, for his clarity of vision and his versatility, and because he shows how art and commerce can live together in photography and never compromise each other. Ken Duncan's panoramas reflect a world that I feel intimately connected with, but somehow his photographs always see deeper and more clearly into it. Steve Parish is daunting; his photos look so obvious and simple until you try to reproduce them! And then there are the Tasmania wilderness photographers: Peter Dombrovskis, who may will have saved the Tasmanian wilderness, and Olegas Truchanas, without whom we may never have seen Dombrovkis work. So what might that say about me? Only that I will probably never achieve anything to approach these or any of the giants of photography.
