A local woman managed to survive for three days buried in a snowbank, most likely because the snow helped to insulate her. She left her home in Ancaster (a part of Hamilton, where I live) in Friday's snowstorm to get baking supplies. Her abandoned van was found the next day. Police searched the area for two days and said they had all but given up hope on Monday when Ace, a little black search dog, started barking at a snowdrift about 200 meters (220 yards) from where the van had been found. Rescuers found Donna Molnar, 55, suffering from hypothermia but alert enough to ask what day it was. She is now in hospital in serious but stable condition. Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. She was buried under snow, which actually provided her thermal insulation. Thanks God, she was able to survive that long till the rescue dog had found her! This is something amazing but not at all great.
