I was just having this discussion about when we were kids... I was asked if I were ever in the Girl Scouts. Yes, I was a,d I loved it. I started as a Brownie, I still have my square Brownie camera and my brown beenie that we used to wear. I unfortunately was only in the Girl Scouts for 2 years as my Mom never drove and my friend that used to take me there decided not to go any more. Being a Girl Scout taught me to be more proud of myself and gave me confidence. I also learned many things and made lots of friends. I remember a camping trip we went on and met other scouts from different states. I loved sitting around the fire and telling stories and making my first ever smore and hobo pies. Were you ever a Scout and what memories do you have? Are your kids in the Scouts?

Thanks for your response. Are you still in the scouts? How long have you been a scout and what do you like about being a girl scout? I loved the camping and the other outings we used ot have and going to camp to meet other scouts and to have fun. I also liked the crafts we had.

I never be a brownie Scout or star scout but i was junior scouts during a high school and become a cadet scouts. I unforgetable experience at scouting camping when we woke up at midnight in our tent, we are all wet co`z of the wind and rain blow strong.

Camping was one of my favorite things to do when I was a scout. It was never easy putting up our tents and lean-tos that we made. I have been caught in the rain camping and it is no fun if the tent and everything in it gets all wet. It makes for a long weekend.

I wish I could have continued in the scouts a few more years. The fun was really only beginning when I had to leave and I only went on one camping trip. I felt like I was really cool in the uniform and selling the cookies. I have some good memories and I always support the scouts now too. Thanks for yoye response and have a great new year and hope your Christmas was great too.

I was a junior girl scout, but never a brownie. I sold the cookies and all that. I loved the thin mints. I really liked selling them and filling out the cookie order forms...I don't know why. I also liked my uniform...a green jumper worn over a green striped shirt, with those green girl scout socks. I think I was a weird kid. LOL

I do not think you were a weird kid, we all liked that jumper and the cookie sales. I think the cookie sales might have made us feel a little grown up selling them to adults and taking the money. I liked going house to house the way we did as kids. Today they do not do that, they sell them in public areas. It is safer that way for the kids I guess. Thanks for your response and have a great day. Keep buying those thin mints too.

I was a girl scout. My mother was also a troop leader. The scouts became much more fun when she became the assistant. I do not think that I made a lot of friends through the process. I also think that I do have some good memories. My only complaint about the scouts is their cookies. They are very overpriced. I do not know if it has changed, but our troop was unable to do any other fundraisers unless we sold the cookies. I think that it has become quite commercialized. I do still think that the scouts have their benefits (as long as you have a good leader).

I agree with you, a good leader is a must for the scouts. They need to keep the kids active physically and mentally. It must have made you and your Mom closer since both of you were a part of the scouts, great memories. The cookies are over priced now, but I will still buy them in support. We also used to have a bake sale a few times of the year and maybe a car wash to help our troop out. I am not too sure if the scouts still do that. Thank you for your response and have a great day.

I loved girl scouts and the memories I still have. It was a great learning experience too. I learned a lot about myself as well as others all over the world. I think most kids should go into the scouts. Thanks for responding and have a great day.
