apparently intelligent couples in the US have an average of 1.1 kids while unintelligent couples tend to have an average of 3.5 kids. [or something alonog those lines.] Why do you think that is? Do you even think that's true? I'm sort of in the middle about the whole thing. My husband and I both have IQs somewhere between 135-145 which puts us in the genius status, and were pregnant with baby number 2. But then again I think if this one is a boy [being that we already have a girl] this one may be our last. So maybe it is true. Who knows for sure really? But anywho...agree disagree, what?

I would have to question this study... how could they possibly get an accurrate sample to make such a determination? I don't know of anyone that was asked to take an IQ test the asked how many kids they have! LOL Seriously though, Here are my thoughts on this subject... First off, I think it IS possible that intelligent people may have fewer kids than an average person... the reason I think so is that they probably have more demanding careers - like doctors, lawyers, corporate jobs that require travel, etc. HOWEVER, I would have to question the age of these intelligent people that are being surveyed... It has become more and more popular for people with 'intense' careers to have childen at Much Older ages than the rest of the country... the reason they give for this is that college consumes at least the first 8 years after high school, then they take time to establish their careers, etc... so by the time they are in their 40's, these people can finally have time to think about having kids. -- Now is the data you're seeing skewed because they are only surveying people at the age of 40? And the 'intelligent' people are just STARTING their families, while others have been working on it for 20 years already? - Just something to think about...

I guess it's because intelligent couples tend to have demanding jobs and they don't have much time to care for kids - intelligent couples are also aware of family planning and all that stuff so they're more careful with what they do and how they do it.

The dumb ones are too dumb to take preventative messures. I know a couple of dumb kids that he doesn't want to buy the birth control pills because they cost too much and she won't say no - so here she is, 18 with baby #2
