How do you regard breakfast?

After a night of sleep, we need breakfast to be ready for another busy day, which means a lot also for health in the long run. But some younsters do not take much, or just skip it, in the attempt to stay a few minutes more in bed. I was impressed by the breakfast I took when travelling in HK. The standard type-A breakfast served is in bigger portion compared with what I have at home. First came a bowel of noodles with beef, together with a sandwich, and a little bread with butter, followed by a glass of coffee. The restaurants are crowded with office people, who must feel replenished before going to work. While precaution is taken to avoid overweight, I believe people also need care for breakfast to keep healthy and energetic for quality living.

As everybody has said so far breakfast is a very important meal. I know in China and Asia there are no specific breakfast foods as is the custom in the West. We have foods that people usully only eat at breakfast time such as bacon and eggs, toast and jam, pancakes and Maple syrup, cold cereal and hot cereal. I usually have a bowl of cooked oatmeal or some cold high fibre breakfast cereal with low fat milk, a slice of toast or English muffin, 1 teaspoon of peanut butter and 1/4 teaspoon of honey or cinnamon. A little while later I have 1 fruit and a slice of cheese or 1/2 cup of yoghurt. I don't like the heavy breakfasts such as bacon and eggs unless it is late in the morning and I know I cannot have lunch for some reason.

Thanks for responding. Quite heavy a breakfast, isn't it? We usually have it only in four or five star hotels. I was also told that it is better to have an apple in the morning rather than at other time. But I do not know why.

Breakfast should not be avoided at any cost.As you told it gives the energy for the day to start with. The reason why more youngsters skip it is,They are late to bed and woke up late as well and they have no hunger for breakfast. The life style should be changed. You have to get up early so that you will have atleast two or three hours before it is time to go to your office.Take a glass of water,go for your morning duties,do some walking or exercise, relax, have a bath. And now you will feel the hunger and you can have your breakfast without fail. This is how it should go.Cheers!

I do agree with you that breakfast is very important. Unfortunately for me I do not take or eat breakfast. I have been accostumed to this already. I only take coffee in the morning. I do beleive that this is not good since breakfast as according to many is the most important meal of the day. In fact this is the reason why they call it breakfast... to break the Fasting. Since at night heading to the morning you have not eaten anything so breakfast is something to break the absence of food from the evening up to the morning when you wake up. Best to you!

I believe breakfast is the most important meal in the day. Many people skip it to get some extra sleep or lose weight. However the exact opposite happens when breakfast is skipped. When you skip breakfast to get extra sleep, you are actually going to feel more tired throughout the day. Without a decent breakfast, the body simply runs on a minimal amount of energy, so you feel cranky all day long. Not eating breakfast to lose weight is also very wrong. When you don't eat breakfast, the body slows down the metabolism because the body is unsure as to when food will be provided again. When you eat breakfast, your body allows the metabolism to burn energy at a regular pace resulting in more energy, and less fat storage throughout the day.

Breakfast IS very important but I'm one of those people who just can not eat anything for at least an hour after I wake up. If I DO, I feel sick and almost want to vomit! The only thing I can handle after I wake up is a steaming cup of coffee, then putter around for about an hour or so, THEN I can eat with no problems! Odd isn't it!

It's a common problem, espeically among youngsters because they to go to school very early. If they get up late, they'll just skip breakfast. They think it is no big deal. But the fact is breakfast is the most important meal among three meals a day. It gives people the energy to be ready for a new busy day. After taking breakfast, we often feel enegetic and clear-headed, and this helps us to do better in our jobs and studies. Parents should pay more attention to breakfast to keep their kids as well as themselves healty.

I love breakfast. My children are the world's worse for trying to run out the door and catch the bus without eating anything. It is important for them in maintaining good grades to have breakfast. It also keeps them from being so fidgitiy in class. There are certain times of the year they have week long tests and the school requires a good breakfast before starting them. They even provide one for the children those mornings if they haven't had one.

I believe breakfast is very important! I always make sure my kids eat breakfast... most school days I take my daughter to school 20 minutes early so she can enjoy a hot breakfast with her friends. At home we generally stick to cold cereal or oatmeal. The school breakfast program, offered everywhere (I think) in the U.S., is the easiest way for parents to make sure their kids are getting a healthy breakfast - I am so thankful for this program!

I study in a boarding school, and every morning the school cafeteria will provide us several different kinds of foods and drinks which are spoken highly of by most students. And I am one of the members! So I kind of like breakfasts!

i would say breakfast is the most important and relatively heavy meal for me. because in line with my diet, i eat a heavy breakfast, a medium lunch and a light dinner. however, given my sleeping hours, i end up having a heavy brunch (breakfast and lunch) and a nearly non-existent dinner. I know this is very VERy unhealthy so i'm snacking on fruits here and there to make up for it the healthy way.

I for one, love breakfast, I love to wake up in the morning head to the kitchen and just cook a big hearty breakfast, whatever you want I'll cook it, it just makes me happy to start my kids of with something nice & hot in their tummies before heading to school or wherever. I'm a believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I do think breakfast is very important to a person, it's the beginning of a day. A proverb in China says" breakfast must be good, lunch must be full, and the supper must be less" People who don't have breakfast usually have stomach disease.
