Christmas Questions

Philippines

I have a couple of questions in my mind regarding how Christmas is being celebrated in all parts of the world. I would like to share first how we celebrate Christmas here in the Philippines. The first four weeks before Christmas, every Sunday, churches preside Advent Masses. Then on the 16th of December, we have a series of masses every 4:30 in the morning. We call it, "Simbang Gabi" in Tagalog or the Early Morning Mass. It's a 9-day daily mass that is held every 4:30 in the morning, to pray and wait for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Many people say that when you complete the 9 Mornings, your wishes will be granted, you need to pray with all your heart of course. When it's Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, we have what we call, "Noche Buena." It's a gathering we never miss because we get to eat the food we prepared for us to thank that Jesus Christ is born. And this is also the chance for the members of family to get together and eat together. Most common foods that are prepared are: Spaghetti, Cheese Ball, Ham, Rice, Filipino Main Course Dishes, Pansit (Filipino style noodles), Smoked Fish, Salads, and Cakes On Christmas Day, many children are dressed up and visiting houses and greet Merry Christmas and the homeowners give a small gift, it could be on the form of money, food, or just gifts. Some families do gatherings and have some fun, whether it is inside or outside the house. :) I spend my Christmas Day, either stay in the house with my family, sometimes we go out and go to the mall and watch movies, eat together, or go shopping. The previous Christmas with my whole family, including grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, we go out of town or gather at my grandparent's house and eat and drink together. And also, giving gifts and giving love on Christmas Day. 1) How do you celebrate your Christmas in your family? 2) What do you usually prepare on the table on Christmas Eve? 3) How is Christmas celebrated in your area? 4) Are there any beliefs or traditions you follow during Christmas? 5) How do you spend your time during Christmas Day?
