how to make home made ice cream?

My mom used to make some. But that was the only time because she received some criticism, serve us right, huh? Anyway it seemed to be such a hassle making it at home. After beating the full cream milk, you freeze it and then beat it again. However if you are persistent, you can start by getting those pre mixed powders. I thought i would like to try those too. I always think that homemade are better too.
