I believe music plays a role in destressing. For some time, I was suffering constantly from headache. "Music to kill your headache", the name of a disc drew my attention, in which was compiled a set of music, mostly focal music and also synphonies of mild melogy. I tried and it worked.

Hi Yoursonlyurs, Music works as a great stress reliever, and I use it to unwind every chance I get. I also found music as a means of getting through a lot of paperwork at work and school. It has a lot to do with what music you listen to. If you are into fast pace or loud music, that will allow you to escape from your surroundings, but it won't completely relax you. The best music would be some calming music, like jazz, or evening cds of natural sounds of nature, some blues ,maybe some guitar riffs, piano solos. But it has a lot to do with a person's taste in music. I say enjoy it, use it as a way of falling asleep or just getting through chores or work, music is a great addiction to have. Have a wonderful New Years. And relax. :) Tweenis

Music always influences me, sometimes on a good way, sometimes not... Yes, you can use music to relax. It depends on you which songs you should choose. Every person feels different towards certain songs. I have some important goals I'd like to acheive, so whenever I stumble upon an obstacle and happen to break down, I usually listen to the songs that inspire me and remember me of my goals. That obviously must be different for each person. Why do you get stressed? Just think about what songs make you feel better, think about how they make you feel, what do they make you think about etc.

I think the right kind of music at the right time can work wonders for your mood. Music can definately help to relax and "de-stress" you. I myself prefer new age music, namely Enigma. Some people say classical music is very calming, but thats not my cup of tea. If I'm stressed I can play some good new age, lay down and close my eyes and just zone for a while, it really helps me chill out. Augment that with some scented candles and/or incense and it really intensifies the effect. Music is one of my biggest hobbies and I can always find a good excuse to listen to it, this is definately one of my favorite reasons to listen to music. Recently I read some articles on stress.about.com about stress relief, and one of the suggested methods was music therapy. So even the "profesionals" think its a good thing.
