Is Life Better?

We all know the age old stories about walking to school uphill both ways with no shoes - the older generation always tells the younger that they have it so much easier. In many ways that is true - I would have killed for a laptop and the internet when I was in high school - and cell phones??? Pagers were just starting to gain popularity when I was growing up. But, is life better? I fear when my kids go out and about without me (the ones that are 12 and older), yet I canvased the city when I was only 9 - riding the city bus all by myself. Schools were calm and controlled, unlike today, and kids had respect for their elders. What do you think - do the kids today really have it easier?

At some point it is easier: we don`t have to `think so much` as so many useful things are discovered and made that ease our lives and thinking. But it is also very dangerous invention, because we are less attentive, with attention deficit and unable to focus on specific topics and tasks for a long time. Also many people becomes damaged (morally and physically) and try to interact with our children, and it is so much easier nowadays! To walk alone the streets of the city at 19pm 50 years ago or today: THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE, isn`t it?

in some aspects its better, it some ways it's not. its better in terms of technology, we all have gadgets that makes our lives easier to live but the sad thing is, the morality is maybe going low, as you said, kids now are less respectful than before & they spent less time with families coz they are always out there with friends or busy in computer games and the like. i think life now is complicated and that's what we're missing the beauty of simplicity of our lives. :P
