Why not drop Pointing? He is 1st captain to lose home series in 16 years!

Having led the team to such bad results in the year i am surprised why no action has been taken on Pointing? * Aus have won only 2 out of 8 test matches this year. * They have lost a home series in 16 years. * Humiliated in India * Humiliated at home by losing back-to-back test matches. Everything is going wrong for Pointing. Even Clarke (vice captain) is not able to explain certain moves made by Pointing (captain). This shows lack of communication. Why not change the captain? Is there no one else in Australia who can lead the team?

the australians must be presently in a state of shock as they are witnessing something very unusual in the last two decades.they are not habituated to losing matches and series so often.ponting had raised the standards of australian cricket but this is the worst phase of his stint as a captain.lets wait and see for few more months and there is bound to be some developments in their team.

yeah they are shocked. thats why i say that a change is needed. when ganguly was doing the same to indian team, he was removed and dravid took over. things changed. thats what i say is required. you can't say that we will stick on with those who won us 10years ago. this is not australian way of doing things. this looks even worse than the indian system where stars rule. in aus there is no stars concept. then what bothers them.

As such it won't be fair to say that Ricky was the sole responsible person for this defeats and so I do not think that Australia should have a new captain. Secondly they might not find suitable replacement as Clerk looks not matured enough to take over. However, if Ricky opts to resign then I won't be surprised. He may continue to be a member of the team as a player because he is still good for playing cricket for few more years from now.

if aus win then you say that he is the most successful captain. but this year (2008) he has the most unsuccessful captain (i would say next only to WI, bangladesh). well you still want to hold on to positions even after losing 6 out of eight tests. that too being the world champions. this is bringing disrespect to the team. thats very bad. well a new captain can bring in new ideas and fresh thinking and can inspire the team with his energy. what is big in maturing? Clarke is not a kid. well Dhoni has played only very shortly but he is handling much better than some of his past predecessors.

i think ricky ponting has no fault in this ,he is avery tricky captain and he has performed well in this test and slowly regaining his form ,i think hayeden should be dropped and they should give chance to shaun marsh,he is very talented player.

well pointing has played. so he is in form as a batsman. so his spot is there in the team as a batsman. but what about captaincy? his team didn't perform! he made all wrong moves. picking injured symonds is a bad one. never gave symonds a bowl till the very end! he is out of form as a captain. no other team would have allowed such a huge eighth and ninth wicket stands. why not he go?

ever since the perth test against india, australia are moving downwards.sure its been the worst year for the australian team but we cannot count them out.the players and the captain may be out of form but no one can disagree that all those players were match winners.they will lose their number one spot very soon but they tasted it so will come back hard to regain the spot .so its going to be fun to watch these 3 teams fight for the number 1 spot.happy posting

i think that Rickey ponting must step down as a captain . He is not playing consistently and he losing his form often .He has scored only in the last test match 101 and 99 . but even scoring those many runs the team was still unable to perform well .He is still unable to fill the gaps of cricket legends Mcgrath and Warne in the team . The team is also not performing well. as a captain he should control the it but there are many controversy issues regarding Andrew Symmonds

yeah i too agree. he should have taken responsibility and resigned by himself. but i can tell you .... he is and his team mates are as well ..... such good persons ..... to throw the captaincy. they can talk but never act smart.

i agree. captain should shoulder responsibility for the loss his teams encounter. when team wins u say it is because of the captain. when it loses you point fingers at batsman and bowlers, is it? very bad!!! aus have just won 2 of their 8 tests this year. so they are not the best team this year. they are very close to the WI, bangladesh and others.
