Banned Words

Each year Lake Superior State University's releases a list of Words to Be Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness. The 34th version of the list was released Tuesday, and included the following words and phrases:
maverick
from Wall Street to Main Street
desperate search
monkey
game-changing
carbon footprint
winner of five nominations
first dude
going green
and even an emoticon made the list

hi kellys...a couple years ago the word,"genre" really seemed to be coming out of my ears. i'd hear it a few times a day and read it as well. now there's no way to avoid it. and i guess i'm numb to it. but to be honest i don't recall hearing much anymore. so now maybe it's written and not so much spoken. whew.
