The best antivirus of 2009 so far is the premium paid version of Avira detected 67% of viruses on the machine. The second placed Kaspersky is found that 60% of virus. The Avast detected 40% of viruses. This mean that the best antivirus is the free version of Avira.

I'm using avast too. So far so good. Was using CA previously when it was providing free trial annually. Switched to avast since then.

I'm using AVG free edition. It works better for me so far. I experienced a real fast scan with Kaspersky (or caspersky) because it resided in the Network layer of memory instead of traditional memory. While all other anti-viruses slow down our PC, this one really didn't affect the speed. Wonderful.

Free anti-virus programs, AVG is the way to go for me. I've been using it for 6-7 years and never had any problems with viruses or spyware.

Well, I have tried many anti-virus from the time I started out. But personally, I find AVIRA a very good anti-virus. It is very fast and it is also free. I am saying this because I was able to make a comparison. I had a flash disc that I often use to different computers and scan it from time to time. It was only avira that was able to find a trojan and other viruses as compared to the anti-virus that I have installed before.

I used AVG Free Edition for years but since version 8 was release its slow down my Windows startup. So I switched to Avira AntiVir Personal. And I have no problem using it till now. Avira AntiVir Personal don't have many features as AVG Free Edition but I like it because its lighweight and do not consumed a lot of my PC memory.
