We have been watching news every day and we relay a lot on these news. However, many a times we find that the news are not impartial. Do you think that our media should be more impartial?

Hi deserve40. Great post topic. OK back onto subject at hand. I do think that unless the media outlet has clearly stated they are owned/operated/etc. by a particular interest group or political group, they should go ahead and follow what is known loosely as "Journalistic Integrity". Unfortunately lately, more and more media outlets are having to print apologies or some are even so brazen as to just not care that stories reported were very biased.

That is right....'Integrity' is lacking in our print and electronic media. They are trying to give us the news which is 'interesting' and not correct one. They try to make the news more and more interesting by adding some unnecessary things. In this process they tend to give us biased news. To apologize is not enough when you are betraying the faith of many people. Strict actions should be taken such people that give wrong news or biased news. Thanks for the response. Have a nice time.

I agree deserve40. There should be accountability on the part of the individual journalist and the media outlet.

I don’t think it is possible for the media to give an impartial view. Most media houses and newspapers are sympathetic to a particular political party…globally it is the same everywhere. So it is for us to take the news with a pinch of salt. Its best to watch two or three channels to get a more impartial idea of a particular incident.

That is good idea. If we watch more than one news channels, we can get more impartial idea of a particular incident. However, more than one news channels may confuse us about the real news. More importantly, the news are many times useless. They just give the news which would attract maximum people. In such cases, they represent the things in such a way that it looks to be the most important issue for the nation... but in reality such news are absolutely useless.

i accept the media has been giving partial news and it will continue because no matter what the people who run these companies are also human and its always difficult to overlook one's opinion...It will depend on us to understand the real news form all that is shown...Have a nice day!

yep. i agree with you. in india we have like tonnes of news channels showing crap all the time. they do horrible reporting..and more often than not they make their own assumptions and theories to sell their news. especially in the entertainment section..where every little move of a star is watched and aired with a breaking news tag attached to it..our reporters are worse than the papparazzi..their should be a law for un-ethical journalism..and whoever misuses should be punished.

You are right friend. Strict actions should be taken against the news chanels which are showing false or fabricated news. Our media is not acting in a responsible manner. However, in the case of Mumbai Taj and Oberoy Hotel's attacks they had done good job by not showing some news. However, after that they have been showing different things which are not of much importance. They give some news and tell us to judge if it is true or not. That is really shameful thing for a democratic country.
