My Daughter...

One of my twins is getting married! I'm ecstatic! I couldn't love the man she is marrying anymore than if he were my own son. They will be marrying within the next 6 months, though they have not set an official date. I feel that I am walking on cloud 9. To birth this loving child, raise her, watch her go through mistakes and become a compassionate, caring woman, to now facing her marriage...I can't believe it. I know it will be a very emotional time for me and also a fun one, to plan her wedding. Have you had children marry? How did you cope emotionally? Thanks for your advice, support, love and help!

I understand where you are coming from, even having 3 daughters, I feel that any of them getting married is them "leaving" me. But I have to think rationally at the same time, too. That they have their life, as well and they mean nothing personally by it. They are not technically leaving me, it is not as if I will never have them in my life again, it will just be a bit different. Good luck to you and yes, I agree, perhaps it is time to try your hand at another relationship....?

Hi Sue, If you were the father I would suggest you to wach the Father of the the Bride movie. I hope that everything goes well in your daughter's marriage. It is a great satisfaction for you to watch your daughter grow from a little baby, to a toddler, from a small girl to a teenager, than to a grown up woman who is starting herown life with the man she loves. Best wishes! My son is still 8 yrs old. I don't know whether he will get married or no. First he said he wants to remain single and live with us. Than he said he will ask his girlfriend to come and live with us. Then eh said that he will buy the house next door and finally he said that he migh pursue studies abroad. I remember too well her saying something similar. She was going to live with me FOREVER. Which would suit me just fine! I have seen that movie you are referring to and it is great. If you will read my response to the comment above yours you will see things in a different light... I am going to need a lot of support over the next 6 months. She chose her dress today and her date, 2nd Saturday of June, I just have to look at a calendar. Thanks for being here for me!

Hi there Sue! I don't have any kid who got married yet. I have only one son who is six years old so it is very early to think about that. But just thinking about it makes me want to cry. Anyway, congratulations to your daughter and his fiancee. Best wishes.

All I have are daughters and would love to have a son! I am not getting an instant son, by having my future son-in-law! He also has a son that is almost 1 year old and is a true blessing; simply adorable! So not only will I have a son, I'm also going to be a grandmother soon! Thanks for your wishes!

Thank you for such a sweet response! I'm already extremely emotional, I just know the tears will fall...my twins have never met their father, therefore I will also be "giving her away"...boo hoo. But a happy cry!
