What have been your experiences with Aging Parents?

It's no fun getting older. My in-laws are really aging fast and it's been a challenge dealing with them. One of them has dementia and Alzheimers and is living with us right now until he can be placed in a nursing home. Any tips would be appreciated. This is something I've never had to go through before.

I have to first say that I greatly admire the courage and love you have to take care of an parent when their health is declining. It does take a lot of time and patience, like having a child all over again only this one walks, talks and put themselves in harms way. I have some concerns with my own parents and inlaws, but not to the point that you are. I would suggest a support group - to share and exchange idea or even to just vent your frustrations to another person that's been there, done that and wears the T-shirt. I do not know where you live, but I hope you have respit - it's a wonderful outfit that gives people a break from an ailing parent or disabled child so you can go out with your spouse and have no worries about your parent's physical health. It isn't available everywhere, but hope you have an avenue to get out of the house and spend some quality time with your spouse.

Thanks for your response on this situation. It's very challenging, to say the least. The worst part is the greedy siblings who are in it for themselves and not for the health and well-being of the parents. Just, "what's in it for me?" which is so unfortunate.
