Have You Ever Been Significantly Internet-Deprived?

Hello, Everybody! About August 25, my computer began to act up and wouldn't let me stay online. My "adopted" kid brother and computer guru had to come up and get me computer to take back to Tennessee with him to fix. We both thought it it would just be a matter of days before it was repaired, but it turned out to be on thing after the other, and I have just this evening gotten back online after a little over four months off. I'm trying to play catch-up! I have a ton of e-mail to go through in each of my inboxes--plus needing to get on with several things I need to catch up on, begin, etc. Also, I was suddenly without enough information on many of my online friends so that I couldn't even let them know what had happened. So, I'm back! Have you ever had the experience--since becoming a user--of being without internet service? For how long, and how did you deal with it? I could have gone somewhere like the library to get on from time to time, but I wasn't expecting to be off for that long. Then, time went on, and a combination of slick weather, having other things needing to be done, etc. got in the way of my doing so--and I had decided by then that I would be so far behind with everybody and everything that I'd rather just catch up at leisure in my own home on my own PC--which I'm going now. Please share your stories! I'll be returning to this discussion to keep you up with me as I find the time...

yes I went once about 2 weeks without the internent and it was very hard, I didn't know what I would do with myself. There was no way to get back to my friends to let them know what was going on, and I lost everything. Some of the connections I had I lost forever because of that time with no computer.

I know what you mean! I'm still making my way around Cyberspace to see what's changed and what has stayed the same during the time that I was gone. It was still summer when I lost my connection, and it's not only winter now but, also, a whole new year. Thankfully, I have a great computer guru who was able to put "Humpty Dumpty" together again--as well as to do some things to make it so that something like this wouldn't be likely to happen again. But--due to this and that--it has taken forever!!!

For the past couple months, I had realatives move in from another country. During that time, I could not access internet at all, because my relative's kids used my computer and internet so much, that it was slower than dial up, because of the number of people that were using it at once. On top of that, my work had some virus attack, leaving no internet there. I couldn't even go to the library, because people have the computers reserved all day. So yea, my relatives just left yesterday, and I'm finally free to use the computer as I please! lol

I already experience things like that. One day my computer never boot at all. And i just found out that the video card was the main problem. I was the one who is in charge of taking care of the computer so it means i will be the one to buy a new video card. I'm just a student and i need to thrift my daily allowance so i can buy one. But it tooks me 6 months before i finally bought a new video card. And now my computer recently struck by a virus although i completely eliminate it, the effects are still there. It would totally freeze after a long time of usage. But i can still use it anyway.

That's really frustrating. I hope that you're able to get full use out of your computer a.s.a.p. It's going to be taking me awhile to get completely back in the groove, but I'm working on it. After being off for over four months, I've been on not even four hours. I can hardly decide where to go next. I know that tomorrow, I'll be working on some legal documents after I run errands and prepare for being snowed and iced in for a few days. After the documents are done and I get some of the real-life errands run, I'm going to resume writing my book, which I hope to have up for sale before the end of January. We can only hope...
