My page cannot load?

I have used Gmail for a while and this problem has never occurred. Since I started using Gmail I have been filtering my emails by deleting my personal Emails and daily reminders and keeping important notifications, receipts and such, but now when I try to open my Gmail I find a page with a bar showing how much of the page has loaded, but the bar never reaches 100%. Next to the bar is a link which gives me the option to view my mail in "Basic HTML". I am wondering if this is because I have kept too much mail or if there is a problem. Also, what does 'Basic HTML' do to my Gmail account?

check your connections ... this is happen if your connection are slow .. try to use https instead of http basic html will not harm your account, but you don't have any ajax feature when you log on in basic html mode. next time you log in, gmail will try to load the standar interface ... if you got a choice to use older version, you can use that choice to keep ajax interface but maybe some feature will decrease ...
