I live on a funny farm. I raise, umm, eyebrows? Okay, okay, seriously, I have a mini-farm, I guess you could say. I'm raising mostly fruit trees but also berries and nuts. I plan to sell some one day, since I've only just recently planted everything and they're not producing much yet. I live in farm country, though. My neighbor across our private road from us, raises cattle and chickens. I'm thinking of asking him if he'd like to barter one day... my fruits/berries/nuts for some of his beef/eggs/chickens. I'd love it if we had more land ourselves, but we only have 3 1/2 acres here. I own 3 acres in another county here in Virginia, but it's too far away to consider it for farmland. I'd just like to sell that 3 acres.

Ah, yes, the son whose age never seems to catch up with his body... I have one of them myself! That land is in Halifax County near South Boston in south-central Virginia. It's 3 open and pretty flat acres, VERY "toy" friendly! There are also 2 additional acres right next to it that are for sale but I'm not sure how to contact the owner. I'd have to ask around for his number. But, my property has a house on it (double-wide mobile home) that is in great shape. I just put in a fridge and washer/dryer combo AND a brand new heat pump! Maybe I should say more in PM if you're interested. I can tell you that I'm going to ask for less than what it was appraised for 2 years ago, though. I just want to be able to stop worrying about it being there, empty and all, you know. As for the cow tax, I believe we have that here, too. There are a lot of tax breaks for farmers since this is an agricultural state (nice, clean, fresh air!!!). Living here is soooooooooooo much cheaper than living in Maryland, where we moved from last year! Hmmm, maybe I should get a cow? I've been thinking of getting some chickens but, with the farmer right across the road, I could probably get fresh eggs from him. I'll have to ask. But, adding a cow... I wouldn't have to cut the grass as often, or ever! Fresh milk, too! Oh, and all the fertilizer I could want!!! Cool!!!! I'm going to get a cow!
