There is a big confusion that a computer speed do affect the connection of the internet. Is like if you have slow internet connection and a fast computer then you will be connected at high speed, i mean what's that? I even heard someone saying if you have slow computer and a fast internet connection then your connection will be slower, how can that be possible? If your computer is slow and you have fast connection to the net then the only thing that will be slow will be the loading of a web browser because that depends on a memory on the computer but the pages will load faster because your connection is fast Or am i the one who is confused here????

Argh, I hate this question because people are so stupid if they don't know that. (no offense) If your computer is slow, but you have a fast internet connection, then the speed of opening a website would be fast. Since a browser doesn't soak up that much memory, it would be stupid to tell people that having a slow computer would reduce the speed of browsing the internet. It's all about your connection.

Dont be confused although you have slow computer , you use tweaking utilities from internet and also reduce the no of services running on your PC to browse effectively if you have fast connection, but as you said even if you have fast computer but slow connection, browsiing becomes difficult as it is the response time, physical line disturbances, heat dispersions from modem/comp can also affect the surfing capabilities it is not actually the connection is slow. I am having that problem right now. I installed Windows Vista on my six year old computer. I only have 2GB of RAM. My system crawls like a turtle now and it makes my internet connection appear to be just as slow but I know it's my computer that's the issue. I think I am either going to have to upgrade to a new computer that will take more RAM or I am going to have to go back to Windows XP.

Computer speed is nothing to do with your internet connection speed. Because your internet speed is controlled by your ISP. So if you subscribed for 10Mbps and you have a high end computer or low end computer, your internet speed will not exceeded 10Mbps. The only thing that make a different is the time that take by the computer to process the data / packet received from the server. Faster computer will take a few seconds while older/slow computer will takes sometimes to process the data/packet to a human readable contents. But if you downloading files this rules is not apply.

hi there,,, well your computer speed will effect the speed of your connection upto certain point as the pages opened are first loaded in ram then they are loaded to your explorer so if you have enough ram it will be fast but the change in speed will be negligible but if you have fast connection you will have fast speed,,,,,mainly computer speed doesnot effect connection speed

A train can only go as fast as the slowest car.... I have a great computer but lousy dial up connection so I can do non-internet activities quickly but if it's online it's slow as hell. On the other end I've been on a lousy computer before but had a great connection & the computer couldn't keep up with the information it was getting. It would eventually overload with information & crash. Your stuck moving at the speed of the slowest part. If you want to go faster you have to upgrade that part.

Hey, Yes, computer speed affects the connection speed. Basically if you have a really fast Internet Connection but a really slow computer, the computer will most likely process the incoming and outcoming connections a lot slower than a faster computer. Ideally RAM would be used more than CPU power for this type of thing. Even though your computer may have a slow CPU, you may still be able to upgrade your RAM if you don't have enough as this may increase your computers 'reaction' time. On the other hand if you have a really fast computer and a really slow Internet Connection, your computer's internet will go at the maximum possible speed that the connection allows. Similarly, if you have a slow computer and slow Internet Connection it will logically go REALLY slow. Hope this helps!

Your computer does affect your connection to the internet. If you have a slow or fast computer and slow internet connection like dial-up, then your connection will never be any better than dial-up speed. Now if you have high speed internet this is where different things and affect your connection. A high speed connection with a normal function computer either slow or fast will connect at high speed. But if you have a high speed computer with one many different types of issues it will slow down your high speed connection. Things like spyware, malware, or virus can all so down computer and also significantly slow down your high speed internet.
