Why are out and out Hollywood comdey movies becoming a rarity?

I love Comedies. Who doesn't? Once upon a time we had an overdose of funny stuff like Police Academy series, Carry on series, Crazy boys series. Where have all movie makers gone. Comedies don't sell well anymore or it is becoming difficult to make such movies?

Well we can't change the fact that movies are for selling and the trend nowadays are sci-fi. (It seems we're going back to superhero stuff now.) Perhaps at the time when comedies were a hit, most of the people want that. Yes, it's frustrating when quality is defeated due to quantity.
