i do learn Mandarin during my study. It an optional foreign language. I choose Mandarin since i live in Malaysia and a lot of Chinese here. So, easier for me to practice. I used to learn Japanese language too. But, forgot most of them since i don't practice it. Honestly, i can't speak Mandarin fluently, just the basic.

I have always wanted to learn how to speak Chinese OR Japanese and Russian. I want to learn these languages because someday I hope to visit those places and I would love to go knowing at least the basics of the language. I would feel ignorant going to a country which I knew nothing about and without even knowing the basics of the language. For me travel is not easy because I have a child and practically no money so I would want to make the absolute best of it and in order to do that I feel a traveler needs to prepare; knowing about the culture, traditions, mannerisms, and language of a country you are visiting is common sense to me. I couldn't imagine traveling to a place without being aware and at least somewhat knowledgeable of those four things.

HI,FaySLongo,I have the same thought with you.Now I'm leaning japanese too.In my country there is a saying "A lost chance is lose forever".So what I can do is to prepare as much as posible before my chance come true.
