What happened to being polite?

Yesterday I went to the store to pick up of few things for supper. It had snowed here and the parking lot was very slippery. I got out of my van and there was an elderly woman trying to walk into the store without falling. I walked up to her and offered my arm to help her into the store. In the meantime cars kept honking their horns and a few even yelled at her to get out of the way. Is everybody in such a hurry that we can't be patient and kind to other people? I'm curious to know what other people think.

I can't believe people would do that! I mean doesn't anyone have respect for the elderly anymore. I would have done the same thing you did. I would have held her arm to give her more something to steady herself against and if i saw her after i finished my shopping I would help her back to her car.

I wonder about that too. People are very rude these days.
