Yes, but now we have a bigger dilemma. A republican president and democratic congress...nothing at all will be accomplished in the next 2 yrs...The president wil ppropose abill, congress will shoot it down, a democratic congressman will propose one and it'll get passed and then the president will veto it, and send it back for a rework....and so on and so on and so on...for 2 full years...lol...politicians suck!!!

No, no no! That's the point! What if we had an all Republican Congress with a Republican president? Or if we had an all Democratic Congress with a Democratic president? Things would get done, to be sure, but both sides wouldn't be adequately or fairly represented in our government. The reason that there is a Congress at all, instead of our President deciding everything, is because of the system of checks and balances that we have going. Checks means that the Congress is there to make sure the President is really thinking of the country as a whole when he makes decisions, and vice versa. BALANCES is the key word there. If we have a government that has no balance, then we do not have a fair government. Think of it this way: I do not think abortion should be made illegal. Now, if we had all Republicans in the government, there would be nothing stopping that bill from passing. However, with a Republican President and a Democratic Congress, that bill will bounce around a bit and eventually be put to rest. I'd much rather them spend too much time passing a bill than not enough.

I don't necessarily agree with that. Now, I'm not saying that I voted Republican (I actually didn't vote, but if I had I wouldn't have voted Republican), but I just don't think that all of a sudden as a people we're ready for peace and justice. I just think that the Bush administration has disappointed so many in the last six years that people are ready for anything different, no matter what it is. I'm not sure this will be better for us, but it is different.
