risk for hepatitis

I've had my ears pierced when I was 9. It was at a jewelry shop of a department where this saleslady took out a kit with a gun-like gadget inside. So you get the pic. That's how I got my first ear piercing. But I got allergic to the pair of earrings, and it got infected so I had no choice but to remove them. The hole eventually closed and until now, 15 years after, it's sealed shut. I have heard of someone acquiring hepatitis because of ear piercing. That's why I'm scared of having re-piercing because I might also acquire any blood-borne disease. How did it happen that someone got hepa from ear piercing? Is it also possible in the same procedure that I went through before?

Hi there, I got my nose pierced a few years ago, I would say that as long as you ensure that the equipment being used to make the piercing is cleaned before hand (i.e sterilised in some way), you are not at a significant risk. The safest place to have a piercing done is at a Pharmacy (in the UK) as they usually will take the necessary precautions.

i don't think I'd like to have mine at one of our pharmacies here. They aren't tried for that. Lol.
