Don't read this if you do not want to know the winner before you watch the Golden Globes! As some of you may know, the Best Supporting Actor for a Motion Picture Golden Globe has gotten a lot of attention this year due to Heath Ledger's posthumous nomination for his work as the Joker on The Dark Knight. The other nominees are: Tom Cruise for Tropic Thunder, Robert Downey Jr for Tropic Thunder, Ralph Fiennes for The Duchess, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Doubt. I was pleased when Heath Ledger won. I think he deserved it; his turn as the Joker was absolutely thrilling, amazing, disturbing, and awe-inspiring to watch. It was a complete transformation, and I was amazed that Heath Ledger had the chops he displayed in this film. However, I'm not sure he would have gotten the attention he did had he not died so suddenly and tragically. What I'm wondering is what the rest of you think? Did Heath Ledger deserve this nomination and award, or did he receive it only because of the tragedy?
