I need a BIG Shovel for all the Sh......

...shifting snow! It's been snowing light puffy lovely flakes here on and off for weeks. It hasn't been hard to shift it off pathways and steps and it really is pretty! Last night changed all that. The wind was horrific and the humidity high. I opened my side door this morning to let my dog out and there was a drift of snow at least two feet or more in height that was flat on the side where it rested against my door. Spunky took one look at the snow, me, shook her head, and went back to her favorite place on the living room rug. So I checked the front door too as it is protected by our porch overhang, but no, it was just as bad! Because of the high humidity the snow now has a hard crust on the top of it and shoveling it out of the way is going to be a major pain in the butt Then of course, I'll have to shovel the porch, steps, walkway to the street, around the side of the house and the small porch by the door, down those steps and across the yard to Spunky's dog run. THEN, I'll have to shovel a path from the gate of her dog run to her dog house and clear the drift from in front of it so she can get inside. I'm exhausted just thinking about it! Plus my back won't be able to take it...... So, I need a BIG Shovel for all the sh............ Got one? I'll pay you a hundred bucks to do it for me and feed you dinner.....

Ha ha...snow. That's cute. I thought snow was a scary story told to children from the south to keep them from moving north! I live in Florida. There's no snow here. I only miss it at Christmas - but I don't miss the cold! I have no shovel to offer, but if you want a nice, sun filled escape from the snow, I live five minutes from the beach!

The only crocs around here are the ones I see on people's feet! As for the alligators...well...I'm not in the swampland part of Florida, so I'm okay. Except for that one I wrestled because he ate my golf ball. Wait. That was Happy Gilmore. My bad. What are we talking about?

I wish I had such a big shovel, which you are asking for, had it been with me, I would have given you without charging any fee. However, I am afraid that I do not have any such thing, which could be passed on to you for your help.

Willful critters, aren't they? Sometimes I think they were raised somewhere silly but fun, like NFLD. When you ask them to TURN RIGHT, they ask, "which RIGHT" and then suddenly turn LEFT! But they are sooo cute, and love tummy rubs, so it is hard to be angry at them for long. Plus, carrying those yummy candy canes on their antlers all the time is a bonus for those much needed long distance snacks.

Hahahaha! Well, I don't have a big shovel, but I do have a rider mower I could get a plow attachment for! Of course, riding it up there from here MIGHT be a bit tricky! I had that happen once, kinda. We had 3 snowstorms in a 2-week period back in '79. We had 5 feet of snow dumped on us. Guess who got to shovel it all? Yep, me. This stuff was over my head in places!!! Anyway, when the first storm hit, we got about 2 feet of snow. I had 3 dogs. I was able to put open the back door (with a lot of effort) but the back yard was gone!!! It was just a big white. That's all, just a big white... no bushes, no fence, no nothing but white! I shoveled about 15 feet down the sidewalk so my dogs would have someplace to do their 'business'. One of my dogs... the poor thing... thought that the rest of the yard was 'over' that big white thing. She was a little gal, only weighed about 20 pounds. She proceeded to run and jump 'over' that white barricade, right into the snow! About a second later, she came barreling out through the side where I had shoveled, covered from snout to tail in snow! I almost peed in my pants laughing so hard!!! Wish we got some of that snow of yours! We've had snow here, but not much at all, not this winter nor last winter. I miss it!!!

Oops, sorry. I must need more sleep. I said that I "put open the back door", when I meant "PUSH open the back door". Also, it wasn't the first storm, it was after the second storm that my dog did her thing in the snow. We have over 3 feet of snow at that time... closer to 4 feet. Okay, I'm going back to bed now... need sleep! Didn't get much last night. Enjoy your snow!!!

Oh Sk, do I hear you! I lived in Alberta from 2000 to 2007. Moved out in the summer though! LOL Our winter here in Saskat last year was mild compared to what is happening this year. In fact I don't even remember it being this bad in all the time I lived in Alberta! LOL Remember the famous winter a couple of years ago in Alberta that was more horefrost than snow? Hubs and I used to take road trips all over the province and I have lovely pics of that winter.... Anyway, I also broke my tailbone back in highschool and my discs have been degenerating from the base of my spine up ever since. So now my vertebrae are grinding against each other, pinching the nerves and my butt muscles have moved UP to support my spine! LOL I'm a mess and can only stand up for about 10 minutes at a time before I collapse in tears. So you can imagine what shoveling snow does to me! Sk, please pm me. I can help you, now that I know where you are living........

This is just too funny. I have a large snow shovel, but with my health and my back I wouldn't last more than 2 or 3 minutes. Sorry but I won't be able to help. I know my hubby would help you for nothing, but we'd have to get a flight to Canada as we live in Tennessee. Also you have 4 extra little one sthere with us. Unless my sister would be able to stay with them on such short notice. Maybe it you have something that would melt it then blow it or move it out of the way. You might have a bunch of sluge to deal with then though.

Just buy my plane ticket and I'm on my way. I'll even cook dinner after I'm done. After the inch or two of ice I had to chisel off my van this morning I consider myself a resident expert on snow and ice removal. And hiding out in the canadian wilderness will protect me from the local law enforcement when they come to arrest me for attempted murder of my two sons yesterday. We took them out to go sled riding and I didn't bother to teach them how to steer or stop before I pushed them down the ice covered alley. They leaned a little too far to the left, hit the neighbors driveway, the sled was stopped by the cinder blocks on the edge but my sons proceeded forward about 9 feet, flying through the air before they fell a good 4 feet to the crunchy snow covered ground below. They were obviously okay because they crawled out of the yard screaming how awesome that was and asked me to push them again. The second time they got tangled up in the air (you would think they would have learned to steer by now) and landed on top of each other on the ground. The oldest on top. No broken bones but my husband in sure that the police are going to investigate or at the very least child protective services are going to be called. LoL So, hide me away until the spring thaw and I will gladly shovel your yard :)

Maybe you can do what someone else has done and just hold her out the window every few hours. I thought I heard of someone holding their kids butt out the window of a moving car to have a pee once recently. Ridiculous in a moving vehicle, but in an emergency, it just might have to do for Sparky, eh?

Ughh I can sympathize Sparks, we've got a blizzard moving in here in a couple of hours with 40-50 mph winds so that's going to not only blow the snow into nice big drifts but plunge the wind chills down to about -30 below zero. It is gorgeous but I'm glad we don't have to go outside until tomorrow. Heck with a $100 shovel.Depending on how high the drifts get maybe a tractor with a plow on the front. Much easier on the back. No I don't have one but I can dream. Share the dream with me Sparks.

Oh I'm sharing the dream Craft! LOL Because our little town usually plows the snow by pulling huge tractor wheels along the road behind a John Deere, but the snows are so deep now they can't get through! LOL My kingdom for a proper plow!!!!

Hey sparky! That made me tired just reading it! I hope your poor little doggie can learn to use the potty really quick! Doesn't sound like going out is going to be possible until sometime in the Spring! Wow! Sounds like you really got hit with Sh!t, I mean shifting snow! That's the worst! When the wind blows it and it freezes in place making it too heavy to push or lift! Isn't there any nice neighbor kids you can bribe to shovel? I don't think that you should dare even try! That stuff is too heavy for you to be messing with, especially with a bad back! I really hope you can find another way! Please don't try doing it yourself! Tell Spunky to use the potty!

It made me tired just writing it! LOL But there are no kids where I live. Everyone in town is OLD! No kidding! So yeah, I did it myself. And yeah, my back is going to kill me for the next three days, so it better not snow again for at least a week! By that time the hubs will be home and HE can shovel! lol As for Spunky, I took her out the front door with me and when I finally got the path to the street shoveled, she could get out to the street and across the road to our property there where the drifts weren't so bad, and do her business. She is now cuddled up at my feet sighing with pleasure! Lucky dog! LOL

Well if I lived closer to you I would happily shovel your snow for a good home cooked meal. Sorry. I can't even help you with the shovel but maybe one day you'll wake up and someone will have done it for you,LOL. If it makes you feel any better it's the same over here and my dog refuses to touch the snow so I have to shovel everything for him too,LOL. I think our dogs are spoiled, I don't mind, Hopefully you'll be able to shovel it without too much trouble, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
