I've gone that long before but driving for 24 hours is mental. You might as well have had a few pints before you got in the car. Unless you were sharing the driving of course! In which case you did very well to stay awake in the passenger seat.

I've been able to stay awake for 24 hours, but it affects me greatly. I would not trust myself to drive or perform any activity that required focus after staying awake for that long. I end up making up for it in some way because my body won't let me not do that... especially now that I'm getting older. So I end up sleeping very late the next night whether I want to or not... or worse, my body succumbs to illness. I used to be able to pull all-nighters in college without much of a problem, but age 34 I'm finding it much more difficult.

A few years ago the place where I was employed was short handed due to a flu epidemic. I worked a 64 hours shift and would never try to do that again.

I stayed awake for about 36 hours. It was in college when we do a lot of building plans, as part of a project. And i was able to do it several times. The funny thing is, we play chess during breaks, while having some snacks. It's really a brain drain. But i don't do it nowadays. I had enough of those stuff. It's about time to take care of my health. So now i only stay awake up to 2AM. I can still go further but i see to it that i could have some rest for tomorrow's work.
